1. What's the difference between editing and proofreading?
Proofreading – involves checking for spelling and grammar issues only.
Editing – involves checking sentence construction, intent and meaning, consistency, tone, style and more.
2. Do I need editing AND proofreading?
Ideally, yes you do. If you’re wanting your book to be picked up by bookstores and to sell, you’ll want to get this right.
Normally, you’d start with editing and progress to proofreading. Preferably, by two separate people.
3. What does editing involve?
Editing is more than checking spelling and grammar. It is about making sure your book works for the reader.
Depending on your manuscript, we may look at:
